Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need additional or special IV supplies to perform an adequate bolus?
A good bolus is required and is easily accomplished with a 3-way stop cock, 20 Gauge medial antecubital IV, 20 ml of saline and a compact bolus. Many labs are already using this type of setup for a 'needle less' IV system.
Is a forceful injection required for a good bolus?
No. A steady, but not forceful saline flush following the isotope injection can produce an excellent first-pass scan.
What kind of performance does a camera need to perform a good first-pass study?
Typically, a camera system should be able to provide an input count rate of at least 250,000 counts per second.
What is the count performance of the OnePass camera?
The OnePass detector is capable of detecting at least 250,000 counts per second input with an observed 20% count loss rate of > 200,000 counts per second per NEMA standards.*
* Performance measurements per NEMA NU-1 2001
What are the NEMA count rate standards?
NEMA count rate measurement is used to determine a camera system's maximum count rates before a 20% loss of
counts is encountered. In fact, the OnePass system is capable of reaching count rates approaching 1,000,000
counts per second without NEMA standards.*

Why is the NEMA maximum count rate not readily stated in other manufactures Specs?
Most gamma cameras are designed to specialize in functions other than count demanding first-pass studies and do not invest in optimizing detector performance for first-pass imaging.
How long does the OnePass installation take?
Typically the OnePass can be installed and fully calibrated in one day.
Our stress lab is relativity small, will it fit?
The OnePass foot print is only 20.5" x 51.5" and installs on either side of the treadmill.
Will the OnePass be in the way when we perform non-nuclear treadmill tests?
The detector can be easily moved by any trained personnel.
We are already a very busy department; will performing first-pass studies add to our already heavy load?
With the AutoStart and AutoTrack features providing a hands-free acquisition, the scan only takes 30 seconds and typically processing is usually accomplished in the same amount of time.
Is motion a problem when performing a stress first pass?
Typically, the patients treadmill speed can be temporarily reduced during the injection while maintaining maximum heart rate and reducing motion. The standard motion correction software also provides additional motion correction reduction.
How difficult is it to perform the optimal RAO projection when the patient is walking on the treadmill?
The OnePass comes with a RAO slant-hole collimator. This enables the user to perform the optimal RAO projection with the patient's chest flat against the detector.
What does 'real-time' clinical support mean?
GVI can remotely log into a OnePass system and observe the user's processing techniques while making suggestions over the phone. When necessary, the clinical support specialist can even take control of the user's screen to further aide and assist in processing a study.
